Food supplement company, already selling in other European countries, wants to open up the Italian market
Request: I am the commercial director of the company ABC. Our company has been operating in the dietary supplements and special foods market for over 20 years and we are already widely distributed in Spain, France and Germany. We are writing to you because we would like to expand our market to Italy. For this purpose, we would need your advice to verify the adherence of our formulas to the Italian regulations, align the labels of our products to the national rules and notify them to the Ministry of Health.
Development of the work: The company had around 90 products in its portfolio and wanted to market half of them in Italy. The first thing to do was to focus on the possible problems of non-compliance of the formulas, so I reviewed them in order to highlight the problems of each one and appropriately inform the client why they might not be in line with the rules. Next came the translation of the labels and the alignment with the Italian regulations. In a third phase, the paperwork for registering the foreign company with the NSIS portal was carried out and finally the notifications were made.
