A Clinical or Toxicological Study allows us to obtain important data on the effects of our finished products or raw materials. The setting up of the study requires advice that shields us from unnecessary practices that would be rejected at the evaluation stage by the relevant bodies

Analysis of nutritional claims

An increasing number of foods sold in the EU carry nutrition and health claims.
A nutrition claim states or suggests that a food has beneficial nutritional properties, such as ‘low in fat‘, ‘no added sugar‘ and ‘high in fibers‘.

A health claim is a statement on labels, advertising or other marketing products that indicates the health benefits that may result from consuming a particular food, for example that a food may help strengthen the body’s natural defenses or improve learning abilities.

Authorization of Health Claims and Novel Food

In addition to Claims for foods that are already consumed, there are more and more foods in Europe that are considered novel (Novel Food) and therefore require an authorization procedure before they can be placed on the market.
In both cases the legislator has provided for procedures involving the generation of a series of useful data to define in the first case whether that specific Claim is true and in the second case whether the novel food can be consumed by the population without health risks.

Study design according to EFSA standards

Study design is very important because EFSA has very strict standards and the data provided by applicants must be derived from well-codified procedures and performed by laboratories using certain quality structures.
